Ubuntu install step 3

Entered username and password (forgot to mention I set those in step 1). Ubuntu sprang into life.

Clicked applications (start), Internet and there was firefox. On the web straight away. Easy.

Just saw a system tray notification that commercial software drivers were switched off but could be enabled. Will have a look at that in a minute.

BTW my wireless mouse & keyboard worked without me doing anything - straight away. Cool.

Ubuntu install step 2

As the machine started it asked if I wanted to run windows or ubuntu. Menu defaulted to windows in 5 seconds but chose ubuntu.

10 more minutes as files installed themselves then it rebooted again and I had to select ubuntu.

So far so good.

Carols by candlelight

My stepson will be singing 'in the bleak midwinter' solo in that spot in about 45 minutes. I'll be recording it on the Zoom H2 handy recorder. I am nervous & excited - I wonder how he is?

Front door to new school building

This is the main entrance to our new school building. £6 million build. Includes ICT rooms for languages & music. Lord Patten opening it tomorrow. Very exciting & a talking point. Contraversial. Inside the architect has insisted most of concrete structure is left exposed. It resembles a car park! Better than another red brick box...
