Ubuntu install step 4

Okay, I'm checking out the issues.

My main worry is dual display. I run two monitors and ubuntu only mirrors them. I can change the resolution to suit each one but they show the same thing. I went to system then hardware drivers. It showed the nvidia driver it recommended so I activated it. Ubuntu then downloads and installs but needs to reboot to effect changes. Still not sure if it will work.

As it was doing this the update manager prompted me to get the latest updates. The disk is relatively old and needs updating so I agreed and 173 downloads were made and are being installed before I reboot.

The short term releases such as 9.04 generally do have a lot of updates. It's like a testing ground for what will eventually make it into the LTS (Long Term Support/Enterprise) versions such as 6.06 and 8.04, these versions are updated less frequently and aside from security fixes, major patches are released as new images (8.04.1, 8.04.2 etc).

Thanks Gary. Anything else you'd like to add is welcome. Linux (Ubuntu) is good fun and it's working!!!
